What it is
Psychiatric care, delivered through secure video
Telehealth psychiatry gives you access to the same clinical care you'd receive in person—without the need to commute or sit in a waiting room.
All appointments are conducted through secure, HIPAA-compliant video, allowing you to meet with a board-certified provider from the comfort of your home.
Care is personalized and may include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy, depending on your needs.
Who it's for
Adults in Florida looking for convenient, consistent care
Telehealth psychiatry is a strong fit if you:
- Prefer care from home or a private space
- Have a busy schedule or limited availability
- Want to avoid commuting or long wait times
- Are looking for ongoing mental health support
It's also a good option for patients continuing care over time, making it easier to stay consistent with appointments and treatment.
How it works
Simple, secure, and easy to stay on track
Booking is done online and typically takes just a few minutes.
Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation where your provider learns about your history, symptoms, and goals. From there, your care plan may include follow-up visits, medication management, or psychotherapy depending on what's appropriate.
All visits are conducted through secure video, and ongoing communication—including prescriptions and follow-ups—is handled digitally for convenience.

Why telehealth
Same level of care, fewer barriers
Telehealth removes many of the common obstacles to getting help—like travel time, scheduling conflicts, and long waitlists.
For many patients, the ability to attend appointments from home leads to better consistency, which plays a key role in making meaningful progress.

Telehealth FAQ
Common questions about telehealth psychiatry
How does a telehealth psychiatry appointment work?
After you book through Zocdoc, you'll get a confirmation email with a HIPAA-compliant video link and a brief intake form. A few minutes before your visit, you click the link from a phone, tablet, or computer and your provider joins the call.
The visit itself is the same as in-person — listening, history, symptom review, plan-building. Prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy of choice afterward.
What technology do I need?
A phone, tablet, or computer with a working camera, microphone, and internet connection. No software installs — the link opens in your browser. Headphones are optional but help if you want extra privacy.
Is telehealth psychiatry private and HIPAA-compliant?
Yes. Visits use end-to-end encrypted, HIPAA-compliant video. Your provider takes the call from a private office, and we recommend you take it from a private space too. Notes are stored in a secure electronic health record — same protections as in-person care.
Can prescriptions be issued over telehealth?
Yes — most psychiatric medications can be prescribed via telehealth. A handful of controlled substances carry additional federal and Florida-state requirements that may involve identity verification or periodic in-person follow-up. If that applies to your treatment, your provider will walk you through the exact steps.
Do I have to live in Florida?
Yes. Stillwell Psychiatry is licensed in Florida, which means visits must take place while you're physically located in the state. You can be at home, at work, traveling within Florida, or anywhere else inside state lines.
When is in-person care a better fit?
Telehealth works for the vast majority of outpatient psychiatry, but it's not the right tool for active crisis, acute suicidality, severe substance withdrawal, or care that requires in-person physical exam. If your needs fall outside what telehealth can safely cover, your provider will help you find the right local resource.
