Insurance FAQ
Common questions about insurance
Coverage, billing, and how out-of-network benefits work.
Do you verify insurance benefits?
Yes — when you book through Zocdoc, your coverage is automatically verified against your plan, and you'll see your expected copay before the appointment. There's nothing to call about and no paperwork to fill out beforehand.
If you'd prefer we look it up for you, just reach out and we'll confirm benefits manually.
What if my insurance plan isn't listed?
Stillwell Psychiatry is in-network with 200+ plans through Zocdoc beyond the four logos above. The fastest way to check yours is to start a booking — Zocdoc will tell you immediately whether you're covered and what your copay would be. No commitment to finish the booking.
If your plan isn't in-network, you may still be able to use out-of-network benefits or pay the rates listed on this page.
What happens if I have out-of-network benefits?
If your plan covers out-of-network mental health care, you'll typically pay our private-pay rate at the time of the visit, then submit a superbill (which we provide) to your insurance for partial reimbursement. The amount reimbursed depends on your plan's out-of-network deductible and coinsurance.
Call the member-services number on the back of your insurance card and ask: "What are my out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health (CPT 90792 and 90213)?" They'll tell you your deductible and reimbursement rate.
Do you offer sliding scale or payment plans?
We don't offer a formal sliding scale, but if cost is a barrier please reach out — we'd rather have a conversation than have someone skip care. We can also share community resources where lower-cost options may be available.
Can I switch to private pay if I prefer?
Yes. Some patients choose to pay privately for greater privacy (nothing is submitted to insurance) or because their plan has high mental-health restrictions. The rates on this page apply, and you can switch back to using insurance at any future visit.
